Recently returned from their tour with Melanie C, Picturehouse, who are renowned for their live act, have hit HQ at the Hall of Fame with four concerts this week. Though they began last night and will continue until Saturday, the latter might be the best bet for ticket buyers, if lead singer Dave is anything to go by.
"It's great doing four gigs," he told me. "The first three can be shite, but you know the last will be amazing!"
Although they've been around since 1995, Picturehouse have recently attracted the attention of Elton John, Meatloaf, Texas and the Corrs.
"The Corrs have been very good to us," he said, as my gossip starved ears suddenly pricked up.
Unfortunately the comment was innocently made.
"I mean in a supportive sense - as a band. At the time we toured with them we didn't have much touring funds. In the end it was like we were sponsored by the Corrs. They didn't care about our finances and backed us all the way."
Back on Irish soil, the band will undergo an image overhaul at the end of the wek under the strict surveillance of Valerie Roe's PR agency. For Dave though, like any true artist, appearance seems something secondary to the music.
"As long as we don't get dressed like the Village People, I'm easy." Then again, Miss Roe is hardly likely to suggest this kind of ensemble, unless Lillies' dress code changes by the end of the week.
Their new singel, "She", which will be released in the coming months, was originally written by Dave as a teenager, about his then ex-girlfriend, who he is now, 10 years on, about to marry.
"It's been changed a good bit," he said. "Basically, it's more grown-up - when I wrote it , I sounded like a whining 16-year-old! At this age, I wouldn't be so completely stunned by a break up like I was then. I'd see it coming, I hope."
Dave, who prefers sad songs to happy ones, and small intimate venues to huge arenas, doesn't seem the sort to buy into the fame game.
Expecting to hear tales of scheduled photo shoots, rehearsals and after show parties, I asked him what was lined up for the rest of the day.
Thinking about it for a second, he replied "I'll probably head across the road to The Oval after this - have u tasted their stew?" Did somebody say rock n roll was dead?
